Dear Parents and Guardians of Pupils in Year 6.
I am sorry to tell you that one person in the Year 6 group bubble has had a positive Coronavirus test. This means that the whole bubble will be closed today on 18/11/2020. It is ok to collect your child at the end of the day as normal.Your child cannot return to school until 3/12/2020, which is two weeks from tomorrow.
Work will be given to your child which will last for the two weeks. Any children who are on Free School Meals will receive a £30 voucher, sent to their family, in much the same way as during the first lockdown. This will cover the two week period also.
Unless your child in Year 6 develops symptoms, there is no need to keep other siblings off school. If your child, or anyone else in your household develops symptoms, the whole house must isolate and a test be taken. If this is positive, everyone must continue to isolate for 14 days from the date of the test.
If you have any questions, please ring the school or send an email as normal.Thank you and we send our best wishes to you and your family.

Year Leader
Dear Year 6,
We hope you and your families are all keeping safe and well. We continue to miss you immensely and have been thinking about you every single day.
We are very happy to have welcomed back some of our Year 6 students. They are all healthy, happy, hair has grown a little longer and everyone is definitely taller! It was lovely to see their gorgeous, smiling faces and hear all their exciting news and stories of all the new talents they have learned during their time at home.
As your teachers, we appreciate all your hard work in these strange times; we are grateful to your parents and carers for providing you with reassurance and love, as great learning will only happen if you feel happy, secure and safe. So it is important to keep a routine. It makes home schooling easier! Variety is key. We have set you some wonderful activities and tasks to keep your learning minds healthy and physical well-being at optimum levels. Remember though, that too much screen time can have negative effects; try to read a book, learn a new skill and try out some of our creative set tasks. All the work we set you takes into consideration the practise of essential English and Maths; in addition, review times tables, division facts, reasoning and problem solving strategies. Please, please don’t forget to pick up a pencil or pen and just write for pleasure! Learning a new skill can be lots of fun; try something you have never thought of doing before, like: hover boarding, knitting, cycling, sewing, baking or even learning new dance moves as Mrs Gumm has from her daughters - you get the idea!
We would love for you to send us any of your completed work, pictures, a poem or even just a “Hey how you doing?...” letter. You can also contact us by using the school email and attach photos, videos performing your writing or again just to say “hi” which ever medium you choose we would love to hear from you!
Even though you will be missing some school, you can still learn and try your best at everything you do if you get into a pickle just ask for help. You are a very special group of people.
We know some of you are worried about your high school transition but please be rest assured that we have been in constant contact with high schools and they are preparing for you to join them in the near future. They will contact you directly with any updated or necessary information. In the mean time we wish you all the best as you prepare for this exciting change.
We hope that when it is possible, you will all come back and visit us at Norton Road but until then, please keep singing, playing, making, drawing, writing, problem-solving, and learning all about our amazing world.
Stay positive, stay safe and stay your cheerful, jolly selves!
Best wishes with lots and lots of love,
Mrs Gumm and Miss Goni xxx

It is important that your child reads whenever possible; please ask them questions about the book or text they are reading. Each child will be issued with a reading record where you can record when you hear them read. The children should be reading at least 4 times a week. This will be checked every Friday and rewards will be given to those who read frequently and complete their record with vocabulary they have identified as being interesting or new to them. You can also support your child by learning their spellings, the times tables and other Maths facts.
Please ensure that PE kits are worn to school, instead of school uniform, on Mondays and Fridays. Where possible we will do PE outside so please ensure the children have the appropriate clothing especially at this time of the year. (Black jogging bottoms or tracksuit, a warm top and outdoor trainers)
The PE kit should be a white t- shirt and black shorts or jogging bottoms. The children will need outdoor plimsolls or trainers.
We would be grateful if you could label your child’s uniform and PE kit with their name.
We would also be grateful if your child has a pencil case with a blue pen, pencil, rubber and sharpener and colouring pencils if they choose. Felt tips and rulers will be provided by the school.
A water bottle is essential to ensure your child is well hydrated during lessons and PE.
If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress or the topics they are learning, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher so an appointment can be made.
Yours sincerely
